How to Configure Sandbox Presets and Custom Codes on a 7 Days to Die Server

Since the 3.0 update, 7 Days to Die has introduced Sandbox Presets, allowing server owners to quickly select predefined gameplay settings or create fully customized configurations using a Sandbox Code.

The legacy difficulty settings in the serverconfig.xml file have been removed and replaced by these new Sandbox settings. Consequently, server owners upgrading from previous versions who wish to maintain their original settings on an existing world will need to manually replicate those legacy configurations within the new Sandbox options.

All GamingDeluxe servers include the official Sandbox Presets by default, making it easy to switch between different gameplay experiences without manually configuring dozens of individual settings.

This guide explains how to select a predefined Sandbox Preset or generate and apply a custom Sandbox Code to your server.

Important Notes Before Changing Sandbox Settings

Please read the following information before changing your Sandbox Settings:

  • The default Sandbox Preset is Adventurer.
  • Several game settings cannot be changed after a world has been created.
  • Some settings can still be modified later using console commands.
  • Example command: setgamepref BedrollDeadZoneSize 30
