How to Install Windrose Mods Using UE4SS on Your Windrose Dedicated Server
In this guide, you’ll learn how to install the UE4SS mod loader on your Windrose dedicated server, download mods from sources such as NexusMods, and install them correctly on both the server and your computer.
We cover two supported methods: installing mods using the Curse Mods Installer (recommended), and installing mods manually from any source outside the Curse Mods website.
Follow the steps below for the method you want to use.
Important Notes Before Installing Mods
Before you start – please read carefully
Modding Windrose can cause server issues after game updates. Always read mod requirements and keep backups.
- Windrose mods can be:
- Server-side (installed only on the server)
- Client-side (installed only on the player’s computer)
- Required on both server and client
- Always read the mod description and instructions on the mod website to confirm where it must be installed.
- Some mods require the UE4SS Mod Loader and will not work without it.
- After Windrose updates, some mods may stop working until they are updated by the mod developer.
- Outdated or abandoned mods can corrupt player profiles or world saves.
Getting the Mod Downloads
You can install Windrose mods using two main sources:
- Curse Mods Installer (available directly in the game panel)
- Manual downloads from external sources such as NexusMods

Tips and Warnings
Most Windrose mod issues are caused by missing UE4SS, incorrect mod placement, or outdated mods.
- Install UE4SS before installing any mod that requires it.
- Only install client-side mods on your computer unless the mod author states otherwise.
- After Windrose updates, test mods one by one if the server fails to start.
- Keep backups of your server before installing new mods.
How to Update Mods
- Mods installed via Curse Mods are usually updated through the game panel.
- For manual setups, re-run the UE4SS ModPack tool to sync mods to your computer.
- If a Windrose update breaks mods, you may need to wait for mod updates.
How to Remove Mods
- Stop your server.
- Open File Manager and navigate to:
\R5\Binaries\Win64\ue4ss\Mods\
- Delete the mod folder you want to remove.
- Start the server and test.
Manual Installation (Advanced)
- Install UE4SS using Mod Manager.
- Upload mods to the UE4SS Mods folder.
- Confirm the folder structure matches the mod author’s instructions.
- Install client-side mods on your computer if required.
